January 22-
First murder of the year- a group of men entered a party in the Las Brisas sector of town, attacking and killing Angel Cantu. The case remains under investigation.
April- City Council recognizes six law enforcement agents who took part in the rescue of six local youths who were unconscious inside a burning building located at the intersection of Church and Monroe Streets. Recognized were Sergeant Jose L. Ibarra, and officers Javier Cazares, J.J. Hernandez, Santiago Nava, Hector Rodriguez and Humberto Garza.
April 10- a high-speed chase through the streets of Eagle Pass is reported, two police cars are damaged after being struck by the suspect’s car. The chase starts on El Indio Road, continued toward Pueblo Nuevo and then back toward Eagle Pass. Two 18-year-old men were arrested at the scene.
April 18- Police officers arrest an employee of a Security Company on charges of theft. The theft was estimated at almost $ 15 000.
April 23- Forty-four year old Daniel Jimenez is killed after being stabbed twice by an unknown assailment that knocked on the door to his home. The case remains under investigation.
April 23- Bryan Wade (29) is found dead inside an air conditioning company van at the parking lot of the Mall de las Aguilas.
May 12- a 3-year-old infant is killed after being hit by a vehicle at a home in the La Herradura’s sector of town. The death is labeled an accident by law enforcement authorities.
May 14- Billy Davis and Asalia Casares are elected to City Council.
May 20- The Maverick County Sheriff’s Department arrests two individuals involved in the death of Juan de Dios Hernández. Forensic evidence shows that Hernandez was killed by two gunshots to the head and his body was burned to hide any evidence. Hernandez was
