Superintendent Jesus Sanchez has formally approached the EPISD School Board with his plans for retirement. At Tuesday’s meeting, Sanchez presented his letter of retirement during closed session. Sanchez has had a great record with the EPISD, and his leadership will be greatly missed; however, he believes that whoever the board selects as the next Superintendent will take the district even further. As far as accomplishments, Sanchez values academics the most, boasting that EPISD is one of the most consistent academically performing institutions in the State, “We have a great staff, great students, great parents and a supportive board that encourages us to work forward and promote necessary academic programs that will help students succeed.” Sanchez plans to remain in his position until the end of his contract term, June 13, 2012. Furthermore, Sanchez believes this is ample time for the School Board to find a new Superintendent; a decision he strongly emphasizes belongs to the board.
