Fort Clark Days 2012 needs Eagle Pass business sponsors for our annual celebration of frontier life. Held annually in the heart of Old Fort Clark, on US Hwy 90 in Brackettville, TX, this year’s event takes place Friday and Saturday, March 2nd and 3rd. Beyond arts & crafts, food, entertainment and just good family fun, Fort Clark Days is exceptional for the “living history” recreated within our nationally registered historic district.
Friday will again be Old Fort Clark School Day, when living historians and re-enactors show over a thousand local school children the frontier way of doing things. Feeding, housing, and assisting with travel expenses for the numerous living historians required to host nearly 1300 students, teachers, and chaperones is the largest annual expense of mounting Fort Clark Days. Financial support from the Eagle Pass business community is urgently requested since 709 of the 1129 students who attended the School Day in 2011 came from Eagle Pass.
As an expression of appreciation, businesses contributing to Fort Clark Days will be listed as sponsors in the event brochure and on the Website,
http://fortclarkdays.weebly.com. And we will display your business sign, if available, during this year’s event.
Fort Clark Days is an all volunteer-staffed project of the Fort Clark Springs Commu-nity Council. All proceeds from the event go to preserve the historic landmark buildings of Fort Clark. Shafter Hall, circa 1870s, was refurbished with the proceeds from Fort Clark Days 2011.
