Local radio station will raise funds for Christus Santa Rosa Children’s Hospital, the number one medical referral hospital for Eagle Pass Area children.
KINL/KEPS radio with the help of local businesses and organizations will raise funds for Christus Santa Rosa Hospital, a Children’s Miracle Network Hospital, as an effort to ensure that children may receive health care, even when families cannot afford it. On February 17, 2012, the station will partake in the community’s first ever Radioathon, for 12 straight hours where donations will be requested of the community.
In 2010 alone, over 3,000 area children were seen at CSRCH, many of which could not afford their visit, treatments, or even emergency travel expenses. Thanks to the generosity of ordinary people who together make an extraordinary contribution, CSRCH did not turn these families away.
“Seeing what level of care and the state of the art equipment used at the hospital is incredible,” said Station Manager Martha Garcia, “We are honored to give the community another opportunity to help local children, in a small way that will make a big difference.”
Local organizations and businesses are also pitching in. On February 11th from 10am-3pm, LEMC “Reguladores” will collect donations at the intersection of Main and Bibb. C.C. Winn High School Student Council and NHS have stepped up to the plate as well; “We are in,” commented StuCo sponsor Dionni Olivares, “many of our students have received care at CSRCH, including myself when I was younger, we are all excited to contribute to the continuation of their services.” Rodee’s Country Fried Chicken and Max Cash Express will also be selling the famous yellow and red icon paper balloons, for $1 to benefit the cause as well.
Founded in 1869, CSRCH is a Catholic faith-based, non-profit health
