The EPISD held their annual Parent Conference this past Saturday at beautiful CC Winn High School and judging by the inviting smiles of all who attended, from hard working paraprofessionals from across the EPISD's Federal Programs Department, campuses from ECC to CC Winn to parents, governmental agencies, local entities, EPISD Administration and even the Mariachi Toro de Azabache y Las Balas de Plata, all on hand were treated to the very latest information in what's available to parents and students in the world of education.
Entitled "I am Someone Who Makes A Difference," the overall theme was oriental in nature as students and staff members alike were decked out in their Mulan-like garb and a magnificent mural donned the CC Winn Cafeteria and was beautifully decorated by the CC Winn art department under the direction of Mr. Ruben Martinez.
"It says to the art enthusiast that no matter who you are or where you are everyone can do a little bit to make a difference. These days people are quick to complain about meaningless things, we all can do our part to make a difference," says Mr. Martinez who is also known for bringing to fruition three highly visible works of art on the outside of CC Winn High School. The piece shows a family unit with an oriental theme of everyone in the family doing their part to contribute to the family unit and was painted by the members of the CC Winn Art Club.
The campuses who were honored for having the most parents in attendance were ECC at the early childhood level, Graves Elementary at the elementary level, Memorial Junior High and CC Winn High School were given awards at the secondary levels.
