A press release from the administration office of the City of Eagle Pass informed that on Tuesday, February 14th, representatives of the City of Eagle Pass which included City Manager Daniel Valenzuela, Adjunct Manager Gloria Barrientos, Chief of Police Juan Castañeda and city detectives met with Federal Agents to discuss the plan of action between the two entities with respect to the investigation of the "Fuel-card fraud" case.
The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the combining of resources in order to expedite the case, while strongly emphasizing restitution to the City of Eagle Pass and the prosecution of those involved.
The Eagle Pass Police Department has informed The News Gram that the investigation is ongoing and according to the latest reports there are 6 people involved up to this point in this fraud case in which there was $68,000.00 worth of abuse of city-issued credit cards for fuel.
The investigation continues and there may be more individuals involved. Unofficially, the theft occurred over the course of a year.
According to the investigation, two credit cards were used to commit the crime against the city. The investigation continues.
