Indications are that primary elections could begin on the 29th of May stated County Judge David Saucedo, who mentioned that at the federal level there are still talks going on in reference to electoral maps for congressmen.
He also mentioned that there is the possibility that dates may be subject to change, but everything points to May 29th for local, state and federal elections.
At a local level races for County Sheriff, District Attorney, County Attorney, two County Commissioner's positions and Constables among others. At the state level we have elections for state representatives among others and at the federal level, the congressional race and the race for the presidency.
Primary elections have been postponed in the past for reasons dealing with the re-districting of electoral maps and discontent across party lines which affect the Latin vote in Texas, Maverick County included.
Judge Saucedo said that all plans on re-districting Maverick County have come across a stumbling block, which would have in fact weakened the combined vote and force of the voice of the people in this county.
