According to County Judge David Saucedo, the county ran the risk of having resources cut due to errors found in the county auditor's department which would adversely affect different public works. Saucedo went on to add that he and his administration are working on letters which will be forwarded to these agencies in order to inform them of the change in the County Auditor's office to avoid these cuts.
The external review conducted last year of Maverick County revealed various errors in the office headed then by Carlos Pereda.
Pereda resigned in January and with the support of our District Judges, Maverick County moves forward to work together to maintain a firmer control of the office of the County Auditor which is presently under the interim supervision of Carla Mazuka.
Judge Saucedo stated that the office of the Department of Agriculture has requested that the county make an attempt to improve the county auditor's office, and with such, there is confidence that funds coming from the federal government will not be cut and funds allocated for the completion of projects, and the assistance to local families with drainage, sidewalks, and other diverse county assistance programs in our community.
